Johann Kaspar, Altertumsforscher und Keltologe, * Vogtendorf (heute zu Kronach) 22. 7. 1806, ✝ ebenda 10. 11. 1856; wirkte bahnbrechend auf dem Gebiet der deutschen Altertumskunde und gilt als eigentlicher Begründer der historisch-sprachvergleichend betriebenen keltischen Philologie.
 
Werke: Die Deutschen und die Nachbarstämme (1837); Grammatica Celtica, 2 Bände (1853).
